Evidence-based practices used at Shannon Beebe, LISW, LLC

Cognitive behavioral therapy: CBT emphasizes the importance of how our thoughts about a situation influence our feelings, which then influence behaviors. CBT interventions help to identify ways of reframing common thinking errors, cope with difficult emotions, and replace problematic behaviors.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: TF-CBT aims to help those who have experienced trauma(s) and are having significant trauma responses lingering after the event. It focuses on stabilization of the client through psychoeducation, grounding skills, trauma processing through completing a trauma narrative, and integration and consolidation of new skills learned in order to move the client from "survival mode" to stability. TF-CBT involves parents/caregivers in sessions to guide parents as they support their child through the therapeutic process.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy: DBT focuses on skills in four main areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. It is designed to help clients improve impulse control, emotional regulation, and relationships with others.

Motivational Interviewing: MI is a client-centered approach that guides clients to explore and strengthen their own motivation for change. Rather than directing clients, it empowers them to recognize and utilize their own capacity for growth.
